CLIC24 - supporting CLIC Sargent, for 2008 will be held on a mixture of open moorland bridleway and singletrack, woodland firetrack and two short tarmac sections. The riding style is steady and the distance about 10 miles per lap, with some gradual climbs and short downhill sections. There will be plenty of opportunity for passing other riders, or if you need to be passed, for you to give way.

Mendip Hills are an area of outstanding natural beauty and the highest geographic point in north Somerset. Views from the course are panoramic and stunning, including the Bristol Channel and Wales to the north and West, rolling English countryside to the east, and to the south, spectacular views to Quantocks and Exmoor. The course covers open high moorland and in wet, cold or windy weather you should be well prepared.

The woodland sections and certain parts of the moorland are protected areas, caring for an abundance of rare and special wildlife and fauna. All riders are encouraged to stay on the trail, which will be clearly signed along its route, and to follow instructions given by official stewards and the First Aid crew. If you are fortunate you will encounter the wild ponies or meet one of the many deer that roam free in the area.

The course itself is a mixture of public highway and byway and on bridleway sections all riders must by law give right of way to horses and pedestrians. We have designed the course in association with Mendip Hills AONB Service to maximise riding enjoyment and spectator pleasure whilst minimising inconvenience to other trail users and local land owners. Please respect this sensitive environment and you'll have loads of fun on Mendip Hills. Remember, CLIC24 is not a race, it is a charity endurance ride. You will not have a number board for your bike, there will be no electronic timing. We will however give you a tag to identify you in case of emergency and to help us count the number of laps of the course you have completed and thereby assist with your collection of sponsorship after the event. As it is not a race we won't be posting results, but we will display through the event a list of all riders and teams in alphabetical order with the number of laps they have completed.
