"When I came up with the idea of CLIC24 I hadn't a clue it would grab the imagination of riders and sponsors in the way it has. One night in the middle of winter I was putting together the ride calendar for the local bike club and thought it would be good to 'give something back' for all that time and money we take from our families to satisfy our desire for saddletime and better bikes and gear. Doing it for charity seemed fair, and why not make a weekend of it, to feed our insatiable appetites for time on the trails.

And so CLIC24 was born. This seems like ages ago now we are into our seventh year. I took the decision not to let it become a 'commercial' event with lots of trade stands and money-making ventures. Instead we are 'keeping it real' with a simple objective of a laid back atmosphere and a weekend of great riding. Yes we have some great facilities. We'll have hot showers, toilets and more of that great food at a fully loaded outdoor event centre (including en-suite accommodation for the team and solo rider with the most sponsorship!!), but the simplicity of it all, and the fact you have to raise money to help improve the lives of children suffering from cancer and leukaemia, makes CLIC24 something different and something very special.

If you like the sound of what we are trying to achieve with CLIC24 then I'd be delighted if you would get involved this year. You don't have to be super fit, you don't have to be a particularly technically competent rider, but if you are both of these then it helps you get even more enjoyment from the excellent course. If you've never ridden in an event before then you'll find the atmosphere at CLIC24 welcoming, and of course you can always bring your family and friends along for support. If you are an experienced competitor perhaps preparing for Mayhem or SITS, then CLIC24 as the first 24 hour event in the calendar is a great start to your season. Although do remember this is a charity endurance ride and not a race. And those views... well you'll just have to get along to CLIC24 and see for yourself.

This will be the fourth year we have held CLIC24 on the current course and at the same venue and we have plans for some exciting changes for 2009 so you’ll have to come along this year so you can say "CLIC24 2008..... yeah I was there!"

I look forward to seeing you on our weekend in mid May."
